Registration
Before starting treatment, our Patient Administration team will collect the details needed to register you at the clinic. This includes your full name, date of birth, contact details, identification, and relevant medical history. All information is kept secure and confidential.
Your First Steps
Initial Consultation – You’ll meet with one of our fertility specialists to review your history, discuss your goals, and decide on any tests or treatment options. Please bring relevant medical records and a list of current medications.
Investigations – Common fertility tests include blood tests, ultrasound scans, and semen analysis. Additional investigations may be recommended depending on your circumstances.
Treatment Options
Your treatment plan will be tailored to you. Options may include:
-
Ovulation induction
-
IUI (intrauterine insemination)
-
IVF (in vitro fertilisation)
-
ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection)
-
Fertility preservation (egg freezing, sperm freezing)
Your consultant will explain the benefits, risks, and likely success rates of each treatment.
Consent Forms
Before treatment begins, you will need to sign consent forms. This is an essential step and we encourage you to complete them promptly. All consent information is stored securely and remains confidential.
Your Appointment with the IVF Nurses
If you are having IUI, IVF, egg freezing, or egg donation, you will need an appointment with one of our IVF nurses at least two weeks before your planned treatment cycle.
During this appointment, the nurses will:
-
Explain your treatment protocol
-
Show you how and when to take medication
-
Ensure all consent forms are signed
-
Provide details on who to contact if you have any concerns
Virology Screening – Fertility treatment requires screening tests, which should be carried out at LIPS Healthcare or your treatment clinic. If testing is performed elsewhere, results must come from an accredited lab and be within date.
Medication
All initial prescriptions for fertility drugs will be arranged by Alma Fertility. You’ll receive an invoice via our patient management platform (WAWA). Once payment is made, the prescription will be sent to Stork Healthnet for home delivery.
Please note: medication delivery can take up to three working days after payment, so it’s important to plan in advance.
For urgent needs, top-up medication can also be obtained from the LIPS Healthcare pharmacy.
Emotional Wellbeing
Fertility treatment can feel demanding — emotionally as well as physically. At Alma Fertility, we provide in-house counselling (including remote sessions), access to support groups, and online resources. We encourage you to use these services at any stage of your journey.
Risks and Considerations
Your doctor will discuss possible risks with you, which may include multiple pregnancy, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), emotional strain, and the possibility that treatment may not be successful.
Costs and Payment
Before treatment begins, we will confirm how your treatment will be funded. All payments must be made in full before your first scan.
If you are using health insurance, you will need to pay Alma Fertility in advance and claim reimbursement from your insurer.
You can view our treatment price list or contact our team for more information.
